Lizard Island

Recently, I swapped Magnetic Island for Lizard Island.

Lizard Island Resort offered me a job as their underwater photographer and videographer.

Whilst it is a very isolated location, a number of reasons make it well worth the trip. Firstly, it has some of the worlds best diving.  Secondly, the island is a national park, with some amazing flora and fauna. Lastly, enjoying it all every day whilst being paid was great!

The fringing reef around the island is amazing but it’s the outer ribbon reefs that are most popular. The Cod Hole is arguably one of the best sites in the world.

I was often diving by myself. However, on one of the last days had the pleasure of Instructor Alex diving with me.

Thanks to fellow scuba instructor Alex for getting a rare shot of me in action!

Alex borrowed my spare underwater camera rig. Here he is taking the shot of the cod and me.

My Nikon D7000 and Nauticam housing got a daily work out shooting the stills. The amazingly good GoPro 7 Black was my choice for most of my video.

I use Backscatter dive filters on the GoPro. They are super convenient and gave fantastic, accurate results.

Picture perfect, Lizard Island Resort is one of the most exclusive luxury locations in the world.
The island’s namesake, the Yellow Spotted Lizard

I loved my time up on Lizard and may return. However for now I am concentrating on teaching classes here again on Maggie.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you are keen to expand your photography abilities.

Happy snapping!

Kobie.
