Amazing Astro Photography
I have been enjoying the most amazing Astro photography lately! Winter hasn’t been all that cold this year, but the skies have been crisp and clear and have been fantastic for shooting the stars.
Magnetic Island has some great light-pollution-free areas for astro photography shoots, but getting into the outback really makes the stars blaze brightly.
I took a small road trip out to Keelbottom Creek recently to shoot the nights sky. Both Milky Way and Star Trail shots. Whilst shooting for star trails is time consuming, it is still so enjoyable.
Of course, it’s even better with a small camp-fire, snags, and a cold beer!
People often ask me how we can see the Milky Way so well in a photo, but not with our own eyes. Basically, we don’t accumulate light, unlike a camera sensor. We see a moment in time. The camera sensor slowly absorbs and stress the light, building the image. It’s a fun style of photography and one I enjoy very much.
We are now coming up to a full moon, so I’ll be bringing out the big glass to get some shots of that. Even with the naked eye, the sky has been so clear, the details of the moon are easily visible. Wonderful!
If you’re keen to learn more, please contact me. I look forward to shooting some amazing images with you soon.
Happy snapping..!
