Home to a wide range of species, the island is teeming with locations for wildlife photography. The ever adorable and popular Koalas, Echidnas, Wallabies and Kangaroos all being Aussie icons. There are also a number of birds of prey; the Brahminy Kite, Whistling Kite, Sea Eagle, and my favourite, the majestic Eastern Osprey.
You’ll hear many of the various parrot-species before you see them, the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo and Rainbow Lorikeets being a few of the most particularly loud!
The island is even home to it’s own native little lizard, the Orange-Flanked Skink, as well as many beautiful, even smaller creatures, like the Green Jumping Spider… which leads me nicely into another style of photography… Macro!
