La Luna.
It may not be a photo of something on Magnetic Island, but the 99.8% full moon was definitely a fantastic sight from Magnetic Island..! (And obviously, many, many other locations…).
We were blessed with a fairly crisp clear night so I set up my Nikon 400mm f2.8 lens with the 2.0 x Teleconverter and using the nifty Nikon FT-1 adaptor, I mounted my little Nikon 1 V3 to it all.
The huge lens far outweighed the little body, but balanced on my gimbal head, it was easy to use.
There was no need to crop in post; the moon was filling the frame, and visibly moving through it at a fair pace. It was an awesome sight through the viewfinder.
Now that the moon is growing less and less each night, it won’t be long before I will be shooting some Milky Way shots, and probably some star trails too.
Happy snapping!
