Milky Way Photography
Winter is now gone, and the summer days are hot and humid. However, the cooler night air is still beautiful, and makes a great change to the hotter days. Perfect for being out and enjoying some Milky Way Photography. It’s time to look to the stars!
We will be hoping for clear skies, so we can be out shooting some great shots of the Milky Way. We will also be setting up to shoot star-trails for the more patient photographers out there.
Check out the dates below for the nights of the new moon, as well as the dates either side of it, as those are will be all scheduled for Milky Way and star trail Astro Photography.
Dates have been scheduled, but if they happen to not be ideal for you, and you wish to request a specific date, please feel free to email me.
I’m always happy to workout a bespoke shoot for keen photogs!

Even though Magnetic Island is close to Townsville, it is in a fairly good location for low light-pollution.
The far end of Horseshoe Bay is nicely ‘shaded’ by Mt Cook and my favourite location to set up for star-trails, Milky Way or moon shots.
However, when the sky is as clear as it often is in the winter, many locations on the island are great to look to the stars.
I’ll be checking the calendar for the night of the new moon. I’ll have my fingers crossed for a typical winters cloudless night, so we can shoot the amazing Milky Way in all its glory, and/or set up for a few hundred still shots to be complied into a stunning star-trail image.
Be sure to pencil in the dates, and let’s see what we can shoot!
