Koala Photography

Koala photography is a must-do. Always a firm favourite and a perennial Aussie Icon. Even more so when you capture an image of them completely wild and in their natural habitat.
Magnetic Island is home to over 750 wild koalas. Most often they’re seen sleeping in the crook of a tree limb. Around 5pm they begin to stir and are getting hungry. This is also a perfect time for some wildlife photography.
We also offer Easter Osprey photography as well as Kites and Sea Eagles if you would prefer something a little more challenging.

All about the Koala Photography.
The Forts Walk is a popular trail, with access being an easy to moderate hike up a well-established walking track. Although a little rough and steep in places, the track is easy to follow and offers some stunning scenic views out over Arthur Bay and Horseshoe Bay.
Staying fairly quiet and walking slowly, the walk takes about 30 minutes to reach the top. Make sure you are looking both at where you’re putting your feet, as well as scanning up in the trees. Before then though we are highly likely to have spotted a few balls of fur, wedged in the crook of a tree, fast asleep. But if a little later in the afternoon, they may be on the move and eating.
Either way, with cameras ready, and being mindful keeping a safe, quiet distance, we should be able to get some winning images of this wonderful Australian native.

Please come prepared for an exciting afternoon out. Make sure that you can carry anything you need for the duration. Good walking shoes and a small pack with a jacket and snacks is advisable. The following is not included:
- Travel insurance and other emergency coverage.
- Food and refreshments.
- Photography equipment beyond basic spares listed above.
