Magnetic Island is gorgeous from almost every bay, hiking trail or look-out point! On this advanced landscape photography class, we will explore more specialised techniques following on from the introduction to landscape photography. We will also be using filters and bracketing images for greater control of exposure. For the already more advanced, we can also try using tilt-shift lenses.

As with almost all of the shoots I conduct, I am happy to tailor them to suit the individual needs of the landscape photographer. Just let me know what you’re wanting to do, learn, shoot etc. Also, what gear you have, and/or what you’d like to try out. I have a fair bit of gear that can be put to good use.

We want to enjoy the natural beauty of Magnetic Island photography whilst you are learning how to shoot some great, advanced landscape images.

All about the Advanced Landscape.

I have shot many landscape scenes over the past 10 or more years. I believe all of the locations on the island are stunning and unique.

Landscapes are popular to photograph. Taking things to the next level is what we want to achieve on the advanced landscape shoot.

The Advanced landscape shoot is a bit more of a technical shoot, involving filters, tripods and long exposures. Also, we can use my manual-only tilt-shift lenses, that are the staple of many professional architecture and landscape photographers.

It doesn’t really matter what camera you have, as I can help you get the best out of it to take an image you’ll be proud of… But for the more technical advanced shoot, a DSLR style camera is preferred.

Some spare/back-up camera equipment on a first-come first-served basis; tripods and a few different standard cameras, lenses, and filters.
A fully guided lesson at some of the best spots for landscape photography.
Patient and clear guidance on how to get the most out of your photography gear and how to use the best techniques for the style of landscape photography you wish to do.

Please come prepared for a fun, informative shoot. Make sure that you can carry anything you need for the duration. Wear some light clothing, a hat, and put on some sunblock. Also bring a tripod if you have one. The following is not included:

Travel insurance and other emergency coverage.
Food and refreshments.
Photography equipment beyond what gear I have available, as listed above.
